Since I’m starting to focus some of my blog on improving my life and your lives as well. I want to share occasional life lessons as I find them. I think it can be helpful, at least it is to me, to learn from other people. So I need to get an ID, I don’t have a driver’s license because with my health issues I choose not to drive right now. I need an ID though. I have to go to do medical tests next week and they said bring ID. So I made plans to go to the DMV this morning with my grandma and Bella. I didn’t bring a paper I needed so they couldn’t help me. It was frustrating but I try to set a good example for Bella with not overreacting to things. I think kids pick up so much on their parents responses, so I’m trying to work on modeling patience. Inside I was feeling a little panicked because I have to get this ID by next week. So we ran more errands and then came home. It was still a nice outing with my grandma and Bella, I picked up a Christmas present for my sister, so check that off my list and then we had lunch.
I came home and made another appointment, luckily I can go on Monday and don’t have the doctors till Wednesday. Even though it frustrated me at the moment I’m working on seeing the bright side of things. So I still had a nice day today. Bella would have hated waiting at the DMV longer and next week she’ll be back in school so that won’t be an issue. I’ll still get it done in time so no worries. I got to model keeping calm for Bella she got to see me face a problem then find a solution. I think that is so important because I don’t always do that so anytime I can show her a good example I try to appreciate it. So I want to share with you three tips to handling a situation where things aren’t going your way:

1. Ask yourself is there anything I can do about it? If yes then do that but if no then you have to accept that.
2. Take a couple breaths and remind yourself it’s not the end of the world. It’s probably not a life or death situation or problem.
3. Make a plan. How can you solve the problem. Do you need to get help from someone, do you need reschedule. Make that plan in your mind and it will probably help calm you.
How do you handle when things don’t go as planned?
