32 Rainy Day Activities For Kids To Keep Them Entertained
Rainy days can be hard because getting outside is so fun and a great way for kids to use their energy. Next time you’re stuck inside at home, try doing some of these rainy day activities for kids with your little ones.
This list includes lots of great toddler activities, motor activities, and indoor activities to keep kids busy. Some of them will also help with fine motor skills and gross motor skills.

Rainy Day Activity For Kids #1 – Little Passports

2. Lovevery Play Kits
Lovevery play kits are so much fun! They have subscription boxes for ages 0-4 years old. Each box is for a 2-3 month age range and is perfect for babies and toddlers that age. The toys are so much fun and are sustainable.

3. MEL Science Kits
MEL Science is a subscription box company that has science kits. They have STEM, physics, and chemistry kits for different ages.

4. Sensory Bin
Sensory bins help kids use their senses to explore things. They can help them learn to focus. This arctic sensory bin from Fun Learning For Kids is so cute and creative. 5. Decorate Cardboard Mermaids
These cardboard mermaids are so unique! The idea comes from The Life of Coco and Babes. Her Instagram is one of my favorite accounts to follow. Her and her daughter decorated these mermaids with washi tape, sequins, and crayons.

6. Pom Pom Animals
Pom pom animals are super fun to make and to play with afterwards. I used to make them with a girl I babysit and we always had so much fun. Red Ted Art made this hedgehog pom pom craft. In her post she’ll teach you how to make them.

7. I Spy Books
I Spy books are a great way to pass the time. Your kids will look at a picture and try to find certain things, objects, animals, etc. in the picture.
8. Hot Chocolate Bar
Rainy days are usually colder, so making hot chocolate is a fun way to warm up. Put together a hot chocolate bar to make it more exciting. Have your kids help you get everything ready, then they can make their own cup of hot chocolate.

9. Play With Kinetic Sand
Kinetic sand can be molded into shapes. It’s similar to wet sand and is really fun to play with. Eating Richly has a recipe to make your own with only 3 ingredients. Making this is kind of like a science experiment.

10. Play Board Games
Playing board games is such a classic indoor activity. Kids can play them with each other or with adults. One of my favorite children’s board games is Candy Land.
11. Plate Yarn Weaving
Happy Hooligans had this fun idea for plate yarn weaving. You’ll poke holes in paper plates and use yarn to weave a pattern into them.

12. Thumbprint Animals
Thumbprint animals are so cute and a great way to keep little ones occupied. Easy Peasy and Fun has ideas of what you can make for every letter of the alphabet. Doing this is also a fun way to work on learning the alphabet.

13. Bath Paint
I love the idea of painting in the bath because it keeps the paint mess more contained. This is fun for little kids and toddlers to do.
14. Paper Plate Tennis
Kids Activities had the idea for paper plate tennis. You’ll need paper plates, popsicle sticks, and balloons to do play this.
15. Make Christmas Ornaments
If Christmas is coming up you can make ornaments with you kiddos. After making them you can keep them or give them to grandparents as gifts. I love the idea to do these tea light snowmen ornaments from One Little Project.

16. Make Homemade Pizzas
We love to make homemade pizza, especially in personal sizes. This way each kid can do their own toppings. It’s fun for them to get involved and they’ll enjoy eating a yummy meal. An Italian In My Kitchen has a pizza dough recipe you can use.

17. Make Slime
Kids love to play with slime. Playing with it is a great activity, but so is making it. Eating Richly has an easy recipe for glitter slime. You’ll need liquid starch and Elmer’s glitter glue to make it. You can get liquid starch here and glitter glue here.

18. Build a Blanket Fort
Building a blanket fort is fun and so is hanging out in it. Kids can read in it, play with toys, or watch a movie.
19. Laundry Basket Skee Ball
Frugal Fun 4 Boys has this awesome idea of using laundry baskets to play skee ball. You’ll need ball pit balls to play with. You can get some here.
20. Write a Letter to Mail to Grandma and Grandpa
Have your kids write a letter to Grandma and Grandpa or other family or friends. They can also draw pictures to send.
21. Read Books
We love reading books with our twins. These are some of our favorite board books right now.
22. Paint Rocks
Painting rocks will help kids be creative. After they paint them they can place them outside for others to enjoy too. Crafts By Amanda shows you how to paint these cute lady bug rocks in her blog post.
23. Bake Cookies
Baking cookies is a classic rainy day activity. Your kids can help with baking them and eating them! A Cozy Kitchen has a great recipe for chocolate chip cookies.
24. Build Legos
Legos are a fun motor activity and they also help with fine motor skills and problem solving.
25. Make Bracelets

26. Play With Bubbles
Bubbles are fun to blow, pop, catch, and chase around. This will keep kids entertained for a while.
27. Have a Tea Party

Coloring is always so much fun. This is something I’ll always love doing with kids.

Thrifty Northwest Mom came up with this fun indoor scavenger hunt that will keep your kids running around and entertained for a while. She has a free printable for it.
