Why are Slime Videos So Fascinating? Learn about ASMR and Slime

I’m currently spending a wild friday evening with my daughters, watching “slime videos” on YouTube.

Wow. I chose the wrong profession. I should definitely immediately quit my job and my blog and start a YouTube channel where all I do is play with slime on camera. I’d be a millionaire! LOL!

But seriously, as I’m watching these, it occurs to me that people must really enjoy watching slime videos, or there wouldn’t be so many of them. So what’s the deal? Why is it so satisfying to watch slime videos on YouTube?

For my children, I think they just like how messy it can be, they aren’t super interested in slime videos that are clean. But for adults, watching and listening to someone play with slime can be especially calming, stress reducing, and enjoyable.

ASMR and Slime:

The one tag used in all of the slime videos is “ASMR”. ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response and it is a physical phenomenon where people get a tingly or buzzing sensation at the base of their head while experiencing certain sounds, smells, or visual stimuli.  For many people, slime videos elicit an ASMR response.

I don’t personally experience this while watching slime videos, which I guess is the reason why I find their existence so bizzare, but I have talked to people who relate to this, and they find the act of watching YouTube slime videos to be the ultimate relaxing activity.

Cool, right? If you’ve never watched a slime video before, try this one and see how it makes you feel! It could be the most relaxing thing you’ve ever watched.
